Why does a CFO pick up the Phone?

By the time you read this hopefully the Dublin Hurlers will have blown away Cork and marched into an All Ireland Final. Whilst doing the refresh we were talking about why the CFO typically picks up the phone to Finance Transformation Consulting and so I compiled the Top 10 reasons, in no particular order as to why that phone call is placed:

1. The numbers are late, AGAIN!
2. The numbers are questionable...lacking that one version of the legendary truth
3. My teams have Communication issues - Procurement won't speak to them, insert IT, Sales, HR, Customer Service or Engineering as appropriate
4. Controls - I feel like we have none and the ones we have would prove lacking on first contact with the 'enemy'
5. The Board raised a Question(s) after the Audit (External or Operational)
6. We could do with a 2nd opinion
7. We pay late, because we're process poo and we get paid late because...we are process poor leading our capital no longer 'working' for us
8. I am new in charge and I want to check what went on before
9. We need a new ERP
10. We want to build a Finance Shared Services Centre
