Early in the development of Finance Transformation Magazine we realised that we could create AI videos from the Articles. This was some time back and I appreciate that by now the Article Authors could be inserted into such videos to tell their story. However, I am slightly old school and for me Finance Transformation is first and foremost about people, the real ones.
No matter how good the tech becomes I just might not want to use it. I like to feel its a real person telling me their story. I know I could have all my videos generated by an app and not need to get out of bed but where is the fun in that and more importantly where is the Connection.
I make videos and write Articles to promote my Consulting Business. I am human, I make mistakes, I occasional stumble over a word or spell something incorrectly. Neither of these events bother me anymore. Last week 2 Articles had spelling errors in their Intro. The intro is where LinkedIn lets you tell the Reader what your Article is about before they open it.
Naturally they can then decide to skip it or dive in. There is a chap who is a Professor of Change at a northern University, great guy, writes great Books. Having heard him speak I can't do anything other than hear his voice when I read his Books. He raised the concept of tripwires in one of his Books where you leave in a deliberate mistake to see who is paying attention and ready to learn for themselves. That's roughly the idea anyway.
I console myself every time I make a typo, due to my speed over the keyboard, that I was in fact subconsciously laying a tripwire. After all I am usually about to tell you how to avoid trodding on a Finance Transformation 'landmine'.
As we advance at Olympic speed to embrace AI and all its prompts, we are forgetting about the person. The people who run your Business or manage its Finances are currently still people, they may augment their delivery with digital support but they are still people and they are being forgotten.
At the cutting edge of World affairs in the Boardrooms of its greatest Companies, with the multiple Billion Dollar Revenues they can envisage no people other than themselves. However, for the remaining 97% of the Worlds Companies they have to rely on 'people' and to do so for many Moons to come.
It is easy to gaze in wonder at the Tech, it is easy to play like a Magician with the art of the possible and that has its place but if you neglect your People at this juncture in our evolution then you may well come to regret it.
Not 5 years ago how many Companies had to send a 'Key Worker' into the Office to hand crank a Finance Process? Remember that when you start to focus your attention.
If you like my writing you may like my Book 'How to Transform Finance' with Michael Ryan. Awesome response so far and I am chuffed as the English say with that response.
Much appreciated,
Best Regards,
Michael Ryan.
